  • Question

  • Hi all ,

Iam having a problem with the errors and warrning that is generating by compounent status masseges ,

    My questuions is :

1- which discovery methods should i enable ? and which one should I unenable ?

2- I have many duplicate recoreds on the system collection for same computer  , what can i do about it ?

3- I checked the status compounent and I found this warrning , can you help me on this ?

SMS Active Directory System Discovery Agent reported errors for 97 objects. DDR's were generated for 0 objects that had errors while reading non-critical properties. DDR's were not generated for 97 objects that had errors while reading critical properties.

Possible cause: The SMS Service might not have access to some properties of this object. The container specified might not have the properties available.
Solution: Please verify the Active Directory schema for properties that are not replicated or locked. Refer to the discovery logs for more information.

  • Hi,

    1) The discovery method depends on which ressources you want to discover and how. Normally administrators enable Active Directory System discovery to locate computers in Active directory. But it depends on what you want to find. Check this article for a description of the different methods - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632733.aspx

    2) Are the duplicates marked as obsolete? That happens when you reinstall a computer with a new image. You can create a collection with all obsolete records and use Delete special and/or you can configure the site maintance rule Delete Obsolete records.

    3) Discovery errors can be cause by several factors like, Site server computer does not have read access to the OU you are trying to scan, the computer objects does not have a record in DNS, the computer objects is disabled. You can check the adsysdis.log file on the site server for more detailed information about the error.
