  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have my sites deployed in Sharepoint 2007 and it works on FBA (Forms). (With Office 2007 Client) When I click on Edit button in the Document Library Log-in Pop up comes when I enter the user name & Password it throws an error and doesn't open the file also. But again if I try to do the same then it does ask for the User name & Password.

Please let me know if in case you need any more information.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Naveen T

  • Hi Himanshu,

This prompt message may be caused by that the file type has to be blocked.

When I new an excel file in a library, then go to Central Administration->Operations->Blocked file Types, in the next page, I add xls type to the file type to be blocked for my application (the application can be changed through click the right top of the toolbar), then when I click Edit in Microsoft Office Excel of the item, the prompt message “Some files can harm your computer,….”will pop up.

So, please check the blocked file type in Central Administration, whether the file type has been blocked in your application.

    Thanks,
    Qiao Wei

  • Hi Naveen,

Would you provide more information about the error message it pops up? Do you mean that you never open the document in this way and it keeps pop up log-in window for authentication?

    Thanks,
    Qiao Wei

  • Hi Qiao,

I am Himanshu, I work with Naveen who raised this query above. The issue here is :

Whenever I try to open an excel document in a share point site it opens up a Pop up window which says:"Some files can harm your computer. If the file information looks suspicious or you do not fully trust the source, do not open the file" But when I clicks on Yes button on the pop-up window it opens the excel file but do not opens the content of the file.

I am using Internet Explorer version 8 and

1995-2003 version of Excel file. Please let me know in case you require more information

    Regards
