Table splitting - columns have different widths RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Word 97-2003 document (*.doc). It contains a table, which has fixed column widths.

If I open this in Word 2007 or 2010, and split the table, sometimes the resulting two tables end up having different column widths. Both tables continue to have fixed column widths, it's just that those widths are different.

The problem is intermittent, but annoying. Is there any way of preventing this? I've tried it on both Windows XP x32 and Windows 7 x64.
