Exchange 2003 SP2 - backup failing

Question
-
Hi All,
We have 1 Exch 2003 SP2 Server with a DB of just under 600GB and the backup fails randomly on the server. We use Data Protector and do intergrated/database backups. The backup would fail for a few days and then go through for 1 or 2 days and then fail again
In Data Protector the error is
ESE subsystem or operating system reported error for reading file:
0xc7ff1004: Error returned from an ESE function call (%d).
When looking in the Exchange event logs I see
MSExchangeIS General, 1159 event id
Have you guys had this issue before and does someone know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Are you able to take backup using Windows Backup utility? If so I would ask to check with Data Protector vendor for the error...

As Rajith said Exchange 2003 is out of support now so you would need to really look migrate newer version of Exchange...

Check http://forums.msexchange.org/Backup_is_failing_with_the_following_error%25/m_1800500590/tm.htm
You really should be planning to move from 2003 as it is so old and out of support.
