What is the purpose of MOM Alerting about the MS Cluster Service: 'Available Storage'? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently imported the MS Win Server 2008 Failover Clustering management pack into MOM 2005.
We have two 2008 Clusters in our domain. One is a file server, the other is DB server.  Both clusters are working fine.

We are being alerted every 15 mins with the following description "The resource 'Available Storage' has failed or is unavailable". We discovered that the 'available storage' is a hidden cluster group used for newly added/removed disks for the cluster.

What is the purpose of MOM alerting about the 'Available Storage' group?
Can we disable this alert or do we need to configure it for this resource?
      - If we disable this alert, how will that affect other Failover Clustering Service Availability alerts. In essence, what else is this monitoring?

  • In the OpsMgr 2007 MP this monitor is disabled by default. You should be able to safely disable this monitor in MOM 2005 as well.
