Need export domain GPO & import in a machine not in domain

    Question

  • Hi All,

    I need to export domain GPO & import in a machine not in domain. ( In other words , I want domain GPO to be a local policy for a machine not in domain - in a simple way ).

    Is it possible , please give me a way.

  • Hi,

    You might try to following the steps:

    1) exporting an arbitrary GPO in the source domain via GPMC (using Back Up...  option in the context sensitive menu of the icon representing the GPO under Group Policy Objects node)

    2) in the target place, importing settings from the backed up GPO  (using the Import Settings... option in its context sensitive menu). This will trigger Import Settings Wizard that takes you through the import process (this might be a bit more involved depending on the number of references to security principals/UNC paths in the domain)
