DWM.exe module dwmcore.dll crashes when using RemoteApp on server 2016 TP5 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there....

I have setup Remote Desktop Services on Windows Server 2016 TP5.

    1x RDG

    1x RDB

    1x RDH

Furthermore I have setup RemoteApp on the environment. When I use RemoteApp. Just Outlook and visionApp (http://www.visionapp.com/) these apps seems to freeze after a short amount of use. Looking in the eventlog on the RDH I see:

    ----

Faulting application name: dwm.exe, version: 10.0.14300.1000, time stamp: 0x56f4adbb
Faulting module name: dwmcore.dll, version: 10.0.14300.1000, time stamp: 0x56f4a81b
    Exception code: 0x80070006
    Fault offset: 0x00000000000a52eb
    Faulting process id: 0x1ac
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d1ec9b9310d1bf
    Faulting application path: C:\Windows\system32\dwm.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\dwmcore.dll
    Report Id: e82c0d81-7e46-400d-befa-9044e691ac8e
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:

    >>> Event id 1000

    --------

Furthermore, the apps has not really been frozen, they can be closed and when that is done the session logs off properly from the RDH (set the GPO policy that makes sure RemoteApp session are logged off immediately). I can also start the same app again (while the initial app instance is still open) and this new instance will work.

    Tried:

    1) Looking for errors similar to this on the Internet. No luck.

    2) when I use the regular remote desktop this does not happen.

    Hoping to:

--> get some suggestions on how to troubleshoot this.

Thank you in advance and I'm looking forward to hear from you.
