Microsoft PIC provisioning / certificate questions

Back when Microsoft provided PIC messaging access to Yahoo, AOL and MSN we had to.....
- provision our edge server with Microsoft
- the certificate on the access edge needed to have the common name matching the name registered with Microsoft

Its time for me to get a new certificatge on my access edge.
Now that Microsoft no longer provide PIC
- do we actually still need to have our edge registered with Microsoft?
- What does this provisioning provide fo us now?
- Since we are already registered, does NOT de-provisioning the edge matter?
- what would be the ramnifications if I removed my edge server from PIC provisioning on the MS site?
- If we leave the provisioning in place, does my certificate common name still need to match the registered name?

Just a few odd ball questions.

This is used for Skype now. So it's not completely dead, just the AIM/Yahoo portions.

So, if you want Skype connectivity, you still need this.
Skype again.
If you don't care about Skype, then you don't need to de-provision but it's good cleanup.
You would break Skype connectivity.
