sending to a disabled user mailbox getting from external 550 5.7.1 and from internal internal 550 4.4.7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    we have migrated from 2007 to exchange 2010 SP2 RU4.

    When disabling a usermailbox, we receive immediately sending from external host to the disabled mailbox  the correct notification: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay

    But when sending from internal emailadess to this disabled mailbox account I receive only after some hours this: 550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired

    How can I manage that also when sending from an internal mailbox to an internal disabled mailbox that the return message comes also immediately?

  • Hello,

    Do you mean change the delay DSN message notification time-out interval? If so, please do it as following steps:

     ====================================================================

    1.If there is the Edge Transport server, in emc, please select Edge Transport, and then click the Properties.

    2.If there is the Hub Transport server, in emc, expand Server Configuration, and then select Hub Transport. In the result pane, select a server. In the action pane, click the Properties link that's directly under the server name.

    3.Click the Limits tab and enter a value in hours next to Notify sender when message is delayed more than (hours).

    Note:In the EMC, the valid input range is from 1 hour through 720 hours (30 days).

    Certainly, you can change the value by EMS.

    Set-TransportServer xxx -DelayNotificationTimeout xx:xx:xx

    Here is the article, and you can refer to the “Configuration the delay DSN message notification time-out interval” subject.

    Configure Message Retry, Resubmit, and Expiration Intervals

    Best Regards,

    Lisa
