DMP 2010 - Manual Backup\Backup methods RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I wanted to know if anyone can help, I wanted to know if there was a way to perform a manual backup of a protection group? (Rather than waiting for the schedule)

Also, within the DPM protection group wizard i cannot see a option to choose either a differential backup it seems to select Full backup automatically.

Any help is welcomed, i'm a novice user of DPM

    many thanks

  • Hi,

You can manually create recovery points for protected datasources. The steps are detailed here - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399308.aspx

    thx,

    Marc

  • DPM does not do "differential" in the classical sense.

It performs synchronizations on file/volume every x-time as you configure and recovery points on time of day as you select.
For Exchange/SQL you can configure ExpressFull and Incremental backup (recovery points).
SQL db's need be in full recovery model to use incremental.
All other types support ExpressFull only.
