    Hi,

So far as I know, there is no such registry key for these items.

    Sincerely,

    Max Meng

  • I've tried saving my setting changes while in a template, but the settings revert back.

if there is no Reg Key for these settings, how can we set them globally?

    Thanks,

    Fawn

  • Hi,

Sorry, we don’t have everything in registry, it’s by design.

    Sincerely,

    Max Meng

  • They are stored in the Settings Value in the Word Data Key.

  • Hi Fawn,

According to Tony Jollans MVP's post, you can find the registry key at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Data\settings

But the value is written in binary, so it is not recommended to modify it.

And also thanks for Tony Jollans' kind sharing.

    Sincerely,
    Max Meng

  • Max,

Thank you very much for returning and amending the thread.

I would agree that few people would be competent to modify this setting directly in the registry and I would not recommend it either :-)

In her first response to you, Fawn asked how she could set these options globally and the best way to do that is with Group Policy.

    Enjoy,
    Tony

  • Hi Tony,

Thanks for remanding me that, but actually I didn't see such settings in the Group Policy.

    Sincerely,
    Max Meng

  • Ah! OK. Thanks, Max. In that case the Admin Templates will need modifying.

Fawn - if you want to do this, come back and I'll let you know the details.

    Enjoy,
    Tony

  • Hi Tony - I'm looking to check this box by GPO as well. How would you modify the admin templates to make this setting available?

    Thank you!
