VMMap - How to trace Internet Explorer from VMMap Trace option? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are trying to use VMMap to trace an IE browser instance to find a memory issue. When we launch IE process using VMMap Trace option then IE process is launching a child 32 bit process but original PID opened in VMMap is disappearing and no trace info comes for child process.

Really appreciate any help in launching IE browser from VMMap trace and able to troubleshoot our memory issues.

    Thanks,

    Ravi Kotyala

  • Hallo Ravi..

Looks like there is no way to intercept the creation of the second or third instance of IE and run it under the vmmap trace utility.

Depending on your needs there are multiple tools you can use. if the problem is a memory leak then you can simply use Debug Diag:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58210

If the problem include performance problem you can try WPA, Windows Performance Analyzer. Like the debugging tools this comes with the Windows 10 Resource kit.
