what is force option for Remove-windowFeature? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get error while running Remove-windowsfeature on window 2008 server.

    PS C:\Users\Administrator> get-windowsfeature RDS*|Remove-windowsFeature
Remove-windowsFeature : Removal of [Remote Desktop Services] Remote Desktop Licensing failed. The RD Licensing
database directory could not be removed.

Is there a force option to remove features?

  • I recommend removing one at a time starting with:

    Remove-WindowsFeature  Remote-Desktop-Services

    then

    Remove-WindowsFeature RDS-Licensing

You cannot remove the license server if it is serving active RDS servers.

  • Thanks for your help. It still failed.

It might might be related to  I use try feature, and license is gone after trial period.

    Is there a force option?

  • Hi,

Please try to deactivate the RDS license server first then try again.

For how to deactivate, please refer to link below:
