Multiple application shortcuts on App-V client console RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

I have a very strange scenario here.

Users can view all the applications available on App-V management server even tough they don't belong to the group of users assigned access.

e.g. I have Office 2010 virtualised and have provided access currently only to the testing group for test purpose. However all the the users who have App-V client can view Office 2010 in the App-V client console.

Add info: We use different streaming servers for different locations. Office 2010 is published only in 1 streaming server and to the management server.

    Please help.

    Thanks & Regards, Abhishek

  • Have you set the correct permissions on the packages in the Content share? See this article for more info: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc817085.aspx

The App-V Streaming Server uses NTFS file system permissions to control access to the applications under the Content share. Use Enable User authentication and Enable User authorization to control whether the server checks and enforces those access control lists (ACLs) or not.

  • Hello,

Can they start the Office 2010 applications?

  • Hi,

They can't launch Office 2010. They get an error as:

The system cannot find the path specified

    Error code: 4604EE8-14200C2A-00000003

Currently only the test group is able to work on virtualised Office 2010.

  • Hi,

This error is obvious, because user is not granted to use this app. This error will pop up if user tries to access any restricted app in virtual environment.

My concern is: Why all users are getting the apps in their virtual environment published on management server, eventough they don't belong to the group of users assigned access or its not been published on there streaming server?

    Thanks & Regards, Abhishek

  • there might be a chanes that ,If user is part of sec group where the app was deployed before and later, sec group is removed from it.

Try log off and Log in to see if that still persists?

IF a user is not part of application security group,he should not get any information about the application .

  • Hello,

Either you need to specify what you did - as the documentation doesn't really tell us how your environment looks or we can just continue guessing. It simply specify WHAT options are available to choose from.

So, how does your environment look like and what does the error message say in its full extent?

  • I sort of have the same problem, but it is rare in my case. A user get a random icon on his desktop that he doesn't have access to.
I'ts always on the desktop, never in the start menu.

Normally I just delete it and it never comes back. I would be more worried if it came back after a relog.

  • Under the Provider Policies Option, when you select the Provider Policy affecting these uers - under the provider Pipeline tab, is "Enforce Access Permissions Settings" checked?
