Sending SMTP address question RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an authoritative domain abc.com, I have an internal relay domain xyz.com.

All users send mail as user@xyz.com, all users primary SMTP address is user@xyz.com

there is no external DNS MX record for abc.com

When users send mail to the internet as xyz.com and cc in other internal users it shows the senders address as @xyz.com but the cc'd in users from the address book as @abc.com.

Why does this happen as all of the primary mail addresses for each user is @xyz.com so that should be sent as that domain internally and externally when picking the user from the gal etc...

  • Hi,

Many time we used two different SMTP addresses one published for external users & one for internal users in your case some possibilities are :-

    1. If you are using any gateway where you created any rules or Alias to change domain address
        2. Might be there any transport rule available in your exchange organization to stamp domain address for external users
