2 file MAs, one resoles manager the other does not RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a weird situation where two identical file MAs, one resolved manager and the other does not.

Schema is the same, pretty much copy and paste.

  • Thanks Ian,

    Check and check.

Turns out, I forgot a small detail. Manager is not on the file. My friend MIM guru Petef Jalaff explained to me that manager has to be on the same file.

The file that works has all users, thus works. The other file is a staging file and has only new users, thus no mansger present.

  • Hey Nosh,

What is the MA type, what does that data look like, and are you sure the user and manager are in scope and seen as user object types?  Any sort of coded rules at play here?

  • Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for replaying.

1- MA is file based. Mentioned that in the title. :)

2- I am referring to the built in function that has existed since the MIIS days, where you have managerID being the employeeID of manager and you convert it into reference then map it to Manager.

3- Both MAs are identical. No code or filters or anything of that sort.

FYI: I do have coded rules, since it is not working as workaround, but would prefer the built in function.

  • Very odd,  I have just tested it in my demo environment, and it has worked.

I am sure it is but no harm to double check, On the configure attribute tab, is the attribute configured as a reference?  It appears as a reference in the connector space(but it wont appear as a link until its in the MetaVerse)? Their is no leading spaces or anything else odd about the attribute value in the text file?

The Manager User object in the connector space is joined to an object in the MetaVerse?

Its not a precedence issue, is this the only MA importing manager?

    Hope that helps,

    Ian

  • Thanks for posting your solution.  Yep, user and reference have to come in through the same door, so to speak.
