ProClarity Desktop Professional v6 startup error - PPageCtrl failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Whenever I run ProClarity Desktop Professional v6.3, various error messages come up. Consequently, it shuts down

First one is: "The page control could not be initialized: PPageCtrl failed to initialize properly"

Second : "An error occurred in the application: Access violation at address 00000014. Read of address 00000014"

    so on....

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall ProClarity Desktop Professional but the problem still persists. OS is "Microsoft Windows XP Professinnal (Svc Pack 2)"

Has anyone faced the same issue? Is there a workaround or patch to fix this error?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • It may be best to go another step and clean your machine of any old ProClarity remnants and attempt another re-install.

Make sure your an administrator on the local box.

    1. Uninstall all instances of ProClarity
    2. Delete c:\program files\common files\proclarity
    3. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application
Data\ProClarity (you can back up options.xml and favorites.bin which
contain user preferences and client side calculated measures and "My
    Views")
    4. Clean out your file and registry system of
any references to ProClarity before reinstalling. RegSeeker is a free
tool on the net you could use to expedite the cleaning of the reg and
    file systems.
    5. Reboot and re-install as local admin

Don't put your options.xml or favorites.bin file back in the ProClarity folder until you know the application will run correctly - as these files could also be the source of your errors.

  • Thanks Joey! I followed the steps as listed by you but without much luck. I still get the same error on startup.

Further, I ran the ProClarity Diganostic Utility tool and it too failed with similar errors. In its logs it says:

Comparing against ProClarity Desktop Professional version 6,3,129,200 ...

-- No Differences with ProClarity Desktop Professional 6,3,129,200 found --

    CreateControl Tests

    Failure - PConnectCtrl.KConnect.5

    Error Message: Catastrophic failure

Does this shed any light on what might possibly be going on?

    Any help would be appreciated!!

    TIA

  • Strange indeed...

Would you mind uninstalling the existing Analysis Services 9.0 provider and reinstalling with the appropriate install below?

  • I have a similar problem.

    Uninstall doesn't work.

    Windows Install Cleaner hangs.

    Frustration growing exponentially.

  • Simply run an office 2010 repair and see if that helps.
