Upgrade fails in audit mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been attempting to upgrade a Windows 7 x64 machine with no success. It fails with an error stating that Windows cannot upgrade in 'audit mode'. Problem is, I've never sysprepped this machine, so there shouldn't have ever ended up in audit mode.

    Anyway, I've performed the regedit edit to remove the  ImageState key and after restart it still fails with the 'audit mode' message.

    I can't seem to exit audit mode on this machine for some reason.

    I also attempted to use the Powershell command located here:

    Powershell fix for Audit mode

    although this is specifically for 8.1, I thought it might help with 7 x64.

    No dice.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hello,

    Do you have the key in the registry:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ReproSoftware\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State]

    "ImageState"="IMAGE_STATE_SPECIALIZE_RESEAL_TO_AUDIT"

    Thanks,
