Hardware Encryption RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does DPM 2012 support hardware encryption from a tape library LTO6 ?

We have a tape Library TS3200 from IBM with 2 head LTO 6. Will it be supported to use both head at the same time?

We have activated the IBM encryption key Inside the Library to do encryption.

  • Hi,

Hardware encryption would be invisible to DPM, so that should not be an issue.

    I don't understand the 2 head question.

  • Thanks for this reply Mike.

You're probably right about the invisibility of hardware encryption by dpm. However, this hardware encryption key provided by IBM is entered directly in the software as Symantec backupexec or Tivoli StorageManager. How would we include it in DPM? If we can solve this technical problem,we will implement DPM immediately in our company.

We have less fear about the reading heads of IBM LTO6. DPM should detect these 2 reading heads without problem.
