Widows 7 X64 does not save html +htm as text. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Unlike with 32 bit Win XP+IE 8, when I try to open html files now, Windows 7 X64+IE10 opens the site from which the html was saved, which I find intensely annoying. Can someone please tell me how to replace this unwanted behaviour with the previous one of saving html files as text?

  • Hi,

To save a webpage as a file

    1. Go to the webpage you want to save.

    2. Click the File button, and then click Save As.

    3. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the webpage.

    4. Type a new name in the File name box if you want to change the name.

    5. In the Save as type box, do one of the following:

    • To save all the files associated with the page, including graphics, frames, and style sheets in their original format, click Webpage, complete.
    • To save all information as a single file, click Web Archive, single file (*.mht).
    • To save just the current HTML page, without graphics, sounds, or other files, click Webpage, HTML only.
    • To save just the text from the current webpage, click Text File.

    6. Click Save.
