Why does this task not start sooner? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using MS Project Pro 2016

I have a master project containing several projects using the same resource pool.

In a Project with priority 600 (all tasks also have prio 600) a task is assigned to Mr.x
This task has one milestone as predecessors and the constraint is set to ASAP.
The milestone is at 11th november 2018 while the task is now scheduled to start on 12th april 2019.
To me there is no reason why this task cannot start on 11th november.

Mr.x also has tasks in another project with priority 500 (all tasks also have prio 500).
These tasks all have an ASAP constraint unless they have no predecessor, then it is Start No Earlier Than Status Date.
Some of these tasks are scheduled before the higher priority task.

Somehow I cannot get this leveled so the higher priority project/task is scheduled before the lower priority project/task
The only way I managed to do it is to make the 600 priority 1000.

    What delaying this task?

  • I believe setting the Leveling order to "Priority, Standard" might help.... Duh!

It can be set in "Leveling Options"
