Tasks Update issue in Project Server 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

When I approve the tasks in Project Server 2013, the updated % does not reflect in MPP.

I Checked the history in "Approvals" page it shows, "There was an internal error applying the update".

    How to resolve this issue?

When you apply status updates to a project, you may receive the following message in the status field in the status updates history:
There was an internal error applying the update.
This issue occurs because the Project Calculation Service failed. When you view the Unified Logging Service (ULS) logs, you see an error message that resembles the following:

  • Hi,

You might have more information looking at the queue message. Maybe the project plan was checked out and the updated couldn't be published. Try to republish it from the approval history page.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

I published it again from History page, but I see the same message in that page.

  • What is the error message in the queue? That would help.

Also ask the user to send again the task udpate.

    Hope this helps,

  • In Queue, it shows success but the task is not updated in the project.

When I open the History I could see the above message.

  • Is the project checked in when you approve the update? If so, there may be an issue with the assignment itself.

  • There have been several fixes in this area

K.Gokulraj, as Mustaq mentions.  In January we also added some retry code to overcome some occurrences of this problem, with further refinements in April.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114507

In certain situation, status updates aren’t applied to a project through the approval process. This fix adds an auto retry mechanism to try the status approval again.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114950

Pending status updates may not be applied to a project upon check-in. Instead, they are applied until later check-in.

    Best regards,

    Brian
