Uninstall Exchange 2010 when site is removed

Question
-
One of the Admins installed Exchange 2010 on ADC on a remote site for testing which he accidentally forgot to uninstall. That remote site has been closed and ADC is demoted and site has been removed on AD during closure. The Machine is P2V and moved into cloud as his has some user applications. We keep getting error on Outlook when we configure Exchange for some other domain that the certificate could not be found. Is there a way that the Exchange 2010 on the VM now can be uninstalled with /RecoverServer switch (Creating same site in AD, then Adding ADC with same name and install Exchange on it with /RecoverServer)? Or should it be removed as mentioned here: http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/16764-manually-uninstall-exchange-2010 ?

The only supported way is to reinstall it with the /RecoverServer switch, and then uninstall it with the /Uninstall switch.
The ADSI Edit method may work for you, but it is not supported and might leave artifacts behind.

Given the site does not exist, do you think the /RecoverServer switch works?Sunday, November 3, 2013 6:36 AM

I don't see why not. The server's presence in an AD site is a function of its IP address, and you're going to install the O/S before using the /RecoverServer for the Exchange application. When the System Attendant service starts it'll update the information about the AD Site membership.
