Mapping of IP Phone field to Share Point Online User Property

    Question

  • Hi Support,

I would like to know how can we map the AD IP Phone field that exist in Active Directory on premises to the User Property in User Profiles within Share Point Online. We are using AD connect to replicate the on premises AD to Azure AD and my understanding is that only 21 properties its replicated for example "Work Phone".

Ideally I would like to see it in the Outlook Contact Card as well.

    Thank you,

    Lazo

  • Hi Lazo,

SharePoint Online uses the Active Directory Import timer job (AD Import) to import users and groups into the User Profile Application. AD Import is limited to a preconfigured set of properties to guarantee consistent performance of the timer job. So it is impossible to map additional properties for AD import to sync AD Import is limited to a preconfigured set of properties to guarantee consistent performance of the timer job.

As a workaround, you could deploy a custom process to read information form Azure AD and update the user properties.

  • Hi Linda,

we have used your suggested solution and developed the script to suite our environment. We have managed to populate the IPPhone field in Share Point User Profile.

The field however needed to be added manually and mapped to "ipphone" attribute.

The next step is to work out on how to add it to the contact card so that IP Phone can be seen in Outlook.

    Thank you,

    Lazo
