DPM 2012 SP1 Tape Backups suddenly stop working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

The DPM 2012 SP1 Backup Server I'm managing has recently been receiving errors along the lines of:

    Type: Tape backup
    Status: Failed
Description: The operation failed because of a protection agent failure. (ID 998 Details: No more data is on the tape (0x80070450))
    More information
    End time: 25/10/2017 9:36:09 AM
    Start time: 25/10/2017 9:34:25 AM
    Time elapsed: 00:01:43
    Data transferred: 0 MB
    Cluster node -
    Source details: DB02\pfdb_tba
    Protection group: DB02 Group
    Library: MSL6000
    Tape Label (Barcode): DB02 Group-00000081 (WP3631L3)

The tape backups have been working fine for a while now however, they started to fail within the past 2 days for some unknown reason that I can't seem to pinpoint. A search on google doesn't seem to reveal any information on how this is caused or how it's resolved either, and the event viewer doesn't seem to show anything unusual.

The server runs Windows Updates, but they are manually performed for control and only security updates are generally applied so incompatible drivers shouldn't be an issue here. Could anyone perhaps point me in the right direction on where I should look for more information on what's the cause behind this please?
