  • I'm unable to upload patch KB 941649 for Windows Vista. I get the same error whether running through the automated update or standalone. It get to step 3 of configuring the update, goes all the way to 100% and then says the update is not configured properly and proceedsm to back out the update.

    ny help would be appreciated.

  • Download and install the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista and check if all is okay or not.

Download and run the tool, it will say that it's "installing"...it's actually running the readiness scan at this time so you should let the installation run to completion. The KB article says it will appear to hang at 60% completion and I've observed this as well. Just be patient and let it finish. After the "installation" is completed, try to download and install Windows Media Services again. Let us know the results.

If this does not solve your problem, please reset windows update components:

  • Hi,

Could you tell us the exact error message? Did you encounter any error when installint other updates? If all updates failed, you can perform the steps provided by Mr X. This issue can be also caused by third-party security programs such as firewalls and anti-virus software. You can disable or remove them to check the issue.

    Regards,
