Windows 7 XP Mode and Multiple Monitors RRS feed

  • Windows 7 XP Mode is definitely useful however... it has a really hard time coping with multiple monitors. I suspect it creates a remote desktop session that spans all possible monitors so to the XP Virtual Machine it looks like it's running on one huge monitor and XP Mode just cuts out what it sees as the applications and displays that. The problem is that when Applications freeze, maximize on anything other than the primary monitor and other stuff it does not display properly. Freezing Applications sometime jump screens. Applications maximized on other monitors show up incorrectly. It's like you see parts of the application on that monitor and parts of what is supposed to be a hidden virtual desktop.

I have a strong suspicion XP Mode relies off Remote Desktop much like RemoteApp seems to rely off Remote Desktop. The difference is RemoteApp works really well with multiple monitors on the latest release and XP Mode... does not.

Can Microsoft please address this? You've done it before just port it over to XP Mode.

  • Hi,

XP Mode is not designed to run with multiple monitors.
