  • Hi, a Windows 7 home premium update started last night and it seems to be 'stuck' on "installing update 11 of 11"...

the screen isn't frozen as such as the timer is going around and around and 2 dots after the words "please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 11 of 11" are moving from left to right but surely it can't take all night to install?

What do I do to stop this without breaking something. This notebook (HP Pavillion dv6) is only a few days old but it has done installations successfully before.

    THANKS.

PS I've tried 'control-alt-delete' but nothing happens... :-(

  • Sometimes you have no alternative than to hard reboot the system. It
should detect that an update failed and roll back the one that is hung,
then you can try again to see if it installs.
