Network folder browsing takes a long time to access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a couple XP Pro PCs that hang for a long time when the user clicks on a Network folder.  Other users with the same PC don't have this issue.  The users have a mapped drive to a share which opens fine.  They then drill down to a certain folder and when they double-click it, Explorer hangs and eventually opens.  Explorer also hangs when they back out of this folder.

The folder is very large and perhaps the delay is with all folders but just not noticable because they are smaller.  However, other users on the network with the same PC don't have this issue opening the folder.  If the users create desktop shortcuts to folders within this folder, they open fine.  Any ideas?

  • Server is not overloaded and the disk is not in spin down.  Server CPU is fine and speed is great.  it works fine for others at the same time it is hanging for these users.  Thanks.
