Password Protect Cached Email RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running Outlook 2007 and 2010 in cached mode with Exchange 2010. Users complain that Outlook opens and allows access to all their cached email without requiring a password. This is a legitimate security concern. Other than relying on Windows or AD user accounts, is there any way to force Outlook to require a password before displaying cached email?

  • Hello,

There seems to be no way by which we can prevent cached items from being displayed before authentication.

You can only manage credential prompt behavior using the following articles.

981977 Office Outlook 2007 does not display the Windows logon domain and username when you are prompted for your login credentials

  • Hello,
    Can you please try this?
    Outlook 2007
    1) Go to Tools then Account settings.
    2) Select your profile then click change.
    3) Click More settings.
    4) Then go to the Security tab
    5) Under User Identification select Always prompt for logon credentials.
    Outlook 2010
Go to backstage aka File and then click account settings and repeat the steps 2-5

    Hope this helps,
