Create and Publish app on ADFS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have to develop SSO login support for our web application using ADFS, I have successfully setup ADFS server and web application proxy server. Now I am stuck at a point where I don't know how to configure and publish app correctly. My web application url is myapp1.com and its saml api url myapp1.com/saml2/acs/. I need to know the followings:

    1) While publishing app from web application proxy adfs, What will be the value for external url, backend url. is it my web application url(myapp1.com) or my adfs server url (adfs.mycompany.com)?

    2) After publishing app on adfs proxy server, from where can i download the metadata for that app(not metadata from adfs server I can download that metadata from https://mycompany.com/federationmetadata/2007-06/federationmetadata.xml). I need the metadata of that app, so that I can configure that metadata in my web application code, just like we download metadata of app from OneLogin or Okta.

    Appreciate your help.

  • Hi Muhammad meraj,

    Thanks for your post.

In the External URL box, enter the external URL for this application; In the backend server URL box, enter the URL of the backend server. Note that this value is automatically entered when you enter the external URL and you should change it only if the backend server URL is different.

For more information, please check the article.

And for the management APP in ADFS server,  you could go to ADFS forum for more support.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Meraj,

You could enter the external URL for the application like https://sp.contoso.com/app1/.

And you could check the link above for more details.
