KB 2538242 Did Not Install for some reason. Now it does not show up on the Microsoft Update page. WHY ? WHAT DO I DO NOW?? How do I install this update or do I even need to install it.Sunday, June 19, 2011 10:33 PM

Please try proceeding like that:
- Try to download it and to install it manually
- Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r /f
- Reset Windows Update Components
- Download and install System Update Readiness tool for your OS
- Disable all security softwares
If this does not help, try performing a repair install of your OS.

Hi,
Can you double check if the update is installed by viewing update history from Control panle->Windows Update. Also check for update again.
Usually, if windows update does not show any update, there is no need to install.
However, if there is any record of failure of the update, we can try manually download and install it. Please disable your security software\antivirus software at the same time.
