Stsadm syntax RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I'm a syntax stsadm NOOB - and need to be sure as this are to be run in production - so in this:

    stsadm –o updatefarmcredentials –userlogin DOMAIN\username –password $password$

do I include the $ signs? - so it will be:  $MYPASSWORD$  or just: MYPASSWORD

I want the SPfarm account to use the password that is set / has from AD

so the complete syntax is this:

stsadm –o updatefarmcredentials –userlogin contoso\spfarm –password farmaccountpasswordhere

Answers

  • Second command is a correct one:

stsadm –o updatefarmcredentials –userlogin contoso\spfarm –password farmaccountpasswordhere

If this update doesn't run successfully you might run to site inaccessible error. In that case revert back where it was. It has risk associated with this update.
