error 4307 during DPM 2010 install RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have instance of SQL 2008 SP2 and I would like install DPM 2010. I got an error during trying to connect sql instance. I am trying connect with special user account and I also followed MS link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg232578.aspx, but I do not understand what they mean with this: "...and the sysadmin role on the SQL Server instance." What is the SYSADMIN role?

Where I should add the service account? Which group should I use?

    error message

    Thanks

I did not change settings, but now, I got another error message at the same step:

I´m able login to the remote SQL server with my service account. When I changed the password on it - I got the same error window as at the top of this topic...

I had bad configuration of TCP/IP on SQL instance - fixed and solved my problem.

  • Hi,

as DPM 2010 isn't able to install over SQL 2008 R2 i doubt that SQL 2008 SP2 is an option.

Could you try on a SP1 database?

    Hi,

here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/dataprotectionmanager/thread/5f9c13de-64ca-4945-bd6e-c1499b1fb96b/ is written that SQL 2008 SP2 is supported for DPM 2010. I could not try it on SP1 DB, because I have not it.

  • 1. add the special user account to the local admin group on your SQL server

    2. in SQL Management Studio --> Security --> Server Roles --> right click "sysadmin" --> Properties --> "Add..." --> add your special user account

    I hope that helps.
