Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 ERROR code 0x80240017 RRS feed

  • Hello

    I am trying to download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 x64 and x86 but everytime I try it, it gives me this message:

    Setup Failed

    One or more issues caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup. For more information see the log file.

    0x80240017 - Unspecified error

  • Your scenario seems similar (close), to the issues described in this blog post by Aaron Stebner (he's talking about .NET FW, but, his scenario is an OS-issue, and .NET FW installation/updating is just the task which uncovered the OS issue)

    So, the analysis, and the diagnostic steps he mentions, may well be helpful in your scenario - I'd give them a try:

  • Why are we constatntly bombarded with this garbage from Microsoft.Sit here half your life trying to figured out how to install one of their packages and from the amount of pages here even they don't know the problem.Absolute garbage
