Problem opening links - IE 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a problem with IE7 on many Windows XP SP3 computers. All computers has been deployed with the same operating system image.

When I try to open a link in a new tab or in a new window a blank page appears and web page is not loaded. This problem occurs, for example, when I open a link from a google search in a different tab or when I open a new message on OWA.

All Internet Explorer updates are installed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Raul

  • Hi,

I have found the problem. The problem is produced by the SAP GUI 7.10 installation.

To solve the problem the following command must be executed:

          Sapregsv.exe mshtml.tlb

    Thanks,

    Raul

Try to refine your symptom description.  E.g. "blank page" has different meaning depending on what its View Source shows.   For example, it may show that a redirect isn't working because of too tight security (e.g. no scripting).   Etc.

  • Hi,

For example, I do a search on google. If I click on a link of the search result it opens fine.
If a right click a link of the search and I select "Open in new window", a new IE window opens. The URL of the link is showed in the address bar, in the IE window title and on the tab title but the page is not loaded and is blank. This problem happens with any link.

    Any idea?

    Thanks,

    Raul

  • See this Sticky post in Microsoft Answers Forum for IE:

Q: How can I repair Internet Explorer 8?

A: MVP Kai Schätzl has provided a script that registers the system files that are related to Internet Explorer. Among other symptoms this script may fix:

    ·        Open in new tab/window is not working

    ·        Find on this page is “empty”

    ·        Tabs on Favorites pane are missing

    ·        About screen and other dialogs are “empty”

    ·        IE8 closes immediately (not if caused by an add-on)

    ·        Can’t print (interface not registered)

You can find the scripts along with the usage information by visiting this website:

  • Hi,

I tried it but the problem persists.

I have rebuilt the operating system image and the problem is reproduced so I think there is some software that is causing the problem.

The operating system is Windows XP SP3 in English. I install Spanish, French, Italian and Portugues language packs. I install IE 7 in English and IE 7 MUI package.
The image also has other software installed as Adobe Reader, SAP and McAffee Viruscan.

    Any idea?

    Thanks,

    Raul

  • I too am having the same problem, I was using IE8 and now IE9, but the problem still exists.  seemed to occur after one of the many mircrosoft updates.

I do not understand your solution, or where to find the command you have listed. Mine is an individual desktop, and the problem is confined only to the desktop.
