Software installation

    Question

  • Dear all,

We have a number of old machines using XP on a Server 2008 r2 environment. The GPOs that are in the system is mainly just for different settings while software installations have been on either the original image or separate as is needed per  machines. Now we have bought new machines and I'm not sure whether to continue using the old pattern that the person before me used or start deploying more things through GPO instead. It is in all about thirty machines but they are for different departments so it is a number of different images that is involved. What are the pros and cons of using GPO to install software? Could there be security reasons involved to why you want to use GPOs?

    Thanks,

    Nitman
