Task summary overview RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to extract certain tasks of a large file and group or summarize them in a separate tab or chart of some sort? To make a short overview of the entire file using more important tasks.

  • Hi Cassandra,

Yes, By using the Group By functionality in MS Project.  Built in groupings include milestones, critical tasks, summary tasks, late tasks etc, but by using custom fields you can flag which tasks are important to you, and then create your own group by field.

  • Thanks. When I group them I have the problem of all my subtask organization disappearing, is there a way when you group to keep all the tasks and subtasks in order and have the flagged tasks duplicated below or separately?
