Exchange Hybrid Deployment scenario across different AD domains? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey Guys,

We have a bit tricky Office 365 Exchange Hybrid deployment scenario. The question is, whether Exchange Hybrid deployment works across different Active Directory domains?

    E.g.

    1. Our on premises Exchange (contoso.com) is connected to an AD (contoso.local). So, the user’s email address is “username@contoso.com”, but his domain account is “username@contoso.local”.
    2. We migrated the user to a new on premises AD (contoso.com), and setup AD Sync with Office 365. So that the user’s new domain account is “username@contoso.com”.
    3. Now, we need a hybrid Exchange setup between Office 365 (which is in sync with new contoso.com AD domain) and on premises Exchange (which is connected to contoso.local AD domain). Note that the email addresses are same (username@contoso.com).

Will this work? Has anyone come across a similar scenario?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amal
