RemoteApp stays when minimized RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a RemoteApp on WIndows Server 2012 R2. When opening this remoteapp on a Windows 7 sp1 client, the remoteapp opens just fine. When I minimize the remoteapp, it minimized, but also stays visible on the screen. When hovering over it, it "erases" the remoteapp screen. Very annoying.

When the Win7 client has the Aero theme enabled, this does not happen. However, due to some limitation of a docking station, we need the basic theme.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Hi,

Do you have mstsc.exe version 6.3.9600 (RDP 8.1) on the client PC?  If not please update it and test to see if it resolves the issue.

    Thanks.

  • It had the RDP 8.0 support. I deployed another test VM and fully updated it through Windows Update, including the optional components. Now it does have the correct client.

I have yet to test it though. Will do that next week and see if this fixes the issue.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Sorry for the late reply.

I had updated the rdp client to support the 8.0 protocol. That wasen't enough.

Now I updated a freshly deployed VM with update 2923545, but was not able to. Not applicable. Strange, as the requirement is that it is installed on a Windows 7 with SP1, which my VM is.

Now updated with the 4 updated mentioned in KB2830477, and it works. Still need to see it working on physical hardware at the customer's site. That should happen tomorrow.
