Can i stop bitlocker suspending? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was surprised today when i saw a recovery message on boot instead of the bitlocker pin screen (i have bitlocker with TPM protection)

"A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed"

When i rebooted i seemed to bypass the bitlocker screen and get to the windows login prompt, when i logged in i was told bitlocker had been suspended.

I don't want this to happen. If there's an error a potential attacker shouldn't be able to bypass my encryption by just rebooting! Doesn't this make Bitlocker virtually useless? Is there a way to stop it suspending? If there's an error it should just not boot, period. Right?

    Thanks,

    HC

  • Check event viewer and see what error has been logged there.

Bitlocker won't let user login unless it authenticate, so I guess it has been authenticate for example using key stored in TPM and for some other reason after that has been suspended.
