Sharepoint Site Usage Report Issue - Duplicate/Separated Names RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are having an issue with one of our clients in which the Site Usage Report is listing some users multiple times with different stats, with the only difference in the user name being that the company name as well as a colon precedes the email address. Our client is having trouble getting the correct stats and we are unsure as to why sharepoint is displaying the details in this manner. Please advise.

For example, we'll see the following:

User - Total Hits - Recent Month - Most Recent Day - Most Recent Day Hits
    johndoe@companyname.com - 160 - 160 - 10/20/2011 - 160
    companyname:johndoe@companyname.com - 1 - 1 - 10/20/2011 - 1

To get to this report, within the site that you're testing this with, go to "Site Actions" -> "Site Settings" -> "Site Usage Report" (Under Site Administration). When the report opens, select "User" as the report type.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Net Portfolio,

I have seen a similar issue that has NTLM and FBA configured in the farm, one is currently not active, then there are two entries for each users in the usage reports.

This issue may be that there are two entries for one user in the user info table in content database, it is not recommended to operate the database, however to narrow down this issue, you may choose to see whether it is the issue, and in the user info table, if we see two entries for one user, with the user name as in the usage report, please check the value of IsActive column, it may be one to false and one to true.

    If so, you may try:
    a. Create new application and export this site to this new web application and enable usage analysis for this new web application
    b. Discard the current Usage analysis on the site and create a new Usage report as it may create a fresh reporting and will not take the entries which have tp_IsActive value as False.

    Thanks,
    Qiao
