RemoteApp not working with TP3 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've deployed two different virtual machines (just to be sure that it wasn't a one off problem) with the new Windows Server 2016 TP3 and installed the Remote Desktop Services RemoteApp role.

When starting an app with the RD Web Access, everything seems to launch fine, but then it hangs at "preparing windows" for quite some time, and eventually a white (blank) rectangle appears on the client where the app should have been.

When looking at the Task Manager on the server, the application is running, but it does not show up on the client...

Anyone having the same experience and a possible solution?

    Thanks!
    Frederic

  • Hi Frederic - thanks for testing the TP3 build. This could be a known defect that we are working on fixing. Can you try if any of the following mitigates the problem?.

     1. Disable advanced graphics for RemoteApp by setting the following GP on the server to disabled state

Computer Configuration->Windows Components->Remote Desktop Services->Remote Session  Environment, “Use Advanced RemoteFx Graphics for RemoteApp”

     2. Disable multi mon support by either disabling secondary monitors attached to your client computer using Control Panel or by physically unplugging the secondary monitors

We should have this issue fixed in one of the subsequent builds.
