Issue with the Folder Redirection ("Can't create folder ""\\abc\update\student\startmenu") RRS feed

  • Question

  • - We have domain machine authentication via wireless medium

    - Noticed when the client login for the first in a day they might not get the complete folder's from the server

    - From the event viewer of the concern client, I see the below information

The following information was included with the event:

    SynTPEnhService
Log on New Session:2 Launch Enh
    "
Information,10/12/2019 11:51:52 AM,SynTPEnhService,0,(1),"The description for Event ID 0 from source SynTPEnhService cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    SynTPEnhService
    Session Changed User Log on
    "
Error,10/12/2019 11:51:50 AM,Microsoft-Windows-Folder Redirection,502,None,"Failed to apply policy and redirect folder ""Start Menu"" to ""\\abc\update\student\startmenu"".
     Redirection options=0x9000.
The following error occurred: ""Can't create folder ""\\abc\update\student\startmenu"""".
     Error details: ""Access is denied.
    ""."
Error,10/12/2019 11:51:50 AM,Microsoft-Windows-Folder Redirection,502,None,"Failed to apply policy and redirect folder ""Desktop"" to ""\\abc\update\student\desktop"".
     Redirection options=0x9000.
The following error occurred: ""Can't create folder ""\\abc\update\student\desktop"""".
     Error details: ""Access is denied.
    ""."

    - Funny part is if I logout and login again the same client would get the folder's updated fine

The following information was included with the event:

    SynTPEnhService
Log on New Session:3 Launch Enh
    "

     Redirection options=0x9211.

    - Tired to study more about this issue

    - Took captures and I noticed CLDAP captures. But I am unable to gather more information through captures

    Questions

    - What kind of transaction happen in packet level from the server to the client regards to the Folder Redirection ?

    - What difference logon/ logoff could make this work ? Any suggestions ?

    Regards,

    Fido

  • Hi,

    Was your problem resolved?

I did some research about the error , the following link for your reference:

Check the permission on the redirect folder for users ,as following:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/folder-redirection/deploy-folder-redirection

clear the Grant the user exclusive rights  as following:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/288991/enabling-the-administrator-to-have-access-to-redirected-folders

  • Windows Permissions can be edited by open cmd, type: services.msc in msc, scroll to parental software/double click, set to: Disable exit maybe scroll to other services, any at Disable might get set to Manual, this allows the OS to run if needed.Exit msc, restart pc.Also,in run type: appwiz.cpl in add/remove open windows services (L.sub menu) locate indexing, chk boxes, edit all, .NET is needed,&/if no printers/fax are installed, disable.
