  • The exact release date is currently unknown, but Microsoft is testing the new version of MVMC internally at the moment. The new version of MVMC will support Windows Server 2012 R2. It will be possible to script against using PowerShell and it will be possible to upload VHDs to Windows Azure via MVMC on-the-fly. The converted VHDs will be uploaded to their own container on Windows Azure, which will have the name of the VM. This is different compared to the "vhds" container in which all VHDs are currently stored by default on Windows Azure. Personally I am not very pleased with this; either have the new version of MVMC upload converted VHDs to the default "vhds" container, have MVMC ask for a destination container, or change how Windows Azure stores VHDs by default. Hopefully this will still be changed before the new version of MVMC goes public.
