Windows Media Centre RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can`t use all functions of  Windows Media Centre, have been using it for 3 years as a PVR every day and now when I go to ``recorded TV`` or`` live TV``it won`t work, after about a minute, this dialog box comes up.  ``Some of the files needed to play radio or video are missing or corrupt. Windows Media Centre component registration may have failed.``

  • Hi, you wrote. "Some of the files needed to play radio or video are missing or corrupt"

If you open a command prompt (run as administrator) and enter SFC /scannow - the missing/corrupt files might then be restored.

    All the best. pkn

  • Hi  pkn

I did as you suggested and after the scan "W R P did not find any integrity violations." Any other suggestions will also be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Lyle, you wrote.. "Windows Media Centre component registration may have failed."

If you can find related files from a backup you may be able to fix the problem by overwriting anything damaged. If the registration HAS failed - not sure why that'd happen out of the blue, you mightr need to try an In-Place Upgrade to 'restart' media Centre.

I'm kinda battling with things here too for the moment, so hope you've made some progress in the interim.

    Regards, pkn
