How to stop windows updates modify ocx control? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

We use mscomctl.ocx in our application. The windows update keeps on modifying this control with the latest version, but we only need to keep the older version. Is there a way to stop the windows update to a particular control?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Windows support to hide the update you don’t want to install, you can refer to following steps to hide the update for ocx:

    1. Click the "Start" button and type "windows update."

    2. Click "Windows Update" in the search results.

    3. Click "Check for updates" in the left-hand pane.

    4. Click either "...important updates are available" or "...optional updates are available" to see the list of "important" or "optional" updates.

    5. Right-click any update in the list and select "Hide Update" to hide the update from view. Click "OK" when complete.

Note Once you would like to restore it, please click "Restore hidden updates" from the left-hand pane, select the update you wish to restore, and then click "Restore" to make it visible again.

Hope these could be helpful and keep post.
