Default drives to scan? RRS feed

  • Question

  • A question came up at a staff meeting yesterday about what drives the FCS client scans by default. Management is worried that the agent will scan all the mapped network drives too. I couldn't find any policy settings that define this - how granular can we get in drive specifying?

  • Sandy,

FCS scans all drives attached to the computer (physically). It does not scan mapped drives, however this could happen to some extent, look at this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939361/en-us even though this should be an exception.

  • Thanks for the link Johan. This exception doesn't appear to be to excessive. A few shortcuts is acceptable. I was hoping to avoid a large, wholesale scan of our network file shares.
