Error 0x80070052 trying to copy pictures to a compact flash 512MB card RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have seen past threads about this error code and I am not very saavy on my new laptop that has Vista on it.  I am trying copy pictures to a compact flash card that is 512MB via a card reader for my digital picture frame. At first I thought I was having difficulty because of Vista so I tried to copy the pictures on a different computer with XP, and was still not successful.

I saw an old thread about changing the flash disk to NTFS.  I am leery to try that as I am not sure if it will delete all the photos and music that I already have on this compact flash as a past thread warned to back up data on a flash disk.

I also tried to burn some CD's to my laptop and copy them on to a disk.  It copied successfully in that I can play the CD on my laptop but it not recognized in my stereo at home nor my car CD player.

I apologize for my lack of computer knowledge and would really appreciate some help.

As this issue occurs on both Windows XP and Windows Vista computers, the cause can be on the flash card side. I recommend backing up the files on the flash card to the computer hard drive and then format the flash card in NTFS.

For more information about this issue, you can refer to the following threads:

    Hope it helps.

  • Hi - maybe you can help me.  I started with the same problem as the first person in this thread.  I was saving pictures to a flash drive and then got the error.  I did reformat to NFTS but now the drive doesn't work in the digital picture frame.  I think if I try to reformat now to FAT32 I might lose all my pictures andhave to start again and then there is no guarantee that it will work either.  Mine was a 2G flash drive.  I'd hoped that copying the files to an SD card might work but it looks like the problem persists from what I see from other users.

Any ideas other than trying a new drive?  (I also checked for errors; defragged; and tried it in clean boot mode)

  • I have the same problem. A new card 2GB and got error messages when I tried to append pics to it. (I am computer illiterate) I was trying to see pics on a Kodak digital frame. When I bought the card I was able to download the camera to it but could not copy any pics to it after that. I tried everything, I am using XP by the way....Finally I backed up the compact flash to my desktop in a new folder. erased the compact flash and defraged it. Then I copied all the pics I wanted to the new folder on my desktop. Then I copied the FOLDER to the compact flash and it accepted it. I have no idea how or why it worked but it did. I hope this help someone.
