cannot connect to configuration database - share point services 3.0 RRS feed

    Hello,

    Im running a SharePoint Service 3.0. Databases are on a SQL 2005 server.

    Yesterday I wanted to change the user identity for the IIS application pools. I also added the new user to access the databases. After the change I got the message that I couldnt connect to the configuration database when I opened the SharePoint Site/Central Administration.

    Now I wanted to change the user identity for the application pools back to the old identity - for this I had to change the users password. After the change I still get the message and dont know what to do.
